Frugal Price Alert – Spelt Flour – Healthy Alternative to White & Wheat Flour

I discovered the joy of spelt flour thanks to my husband’s intolerance of wheat, white, corn and “you-name-it” flours. According to the Blood Type Diet, the most common blood type which is “Type O” is just meant to eat meat, select veggies and grains and definitely not wheat.

So I went hunting for a bread substitute which led me to spelt flour, something all the blood types digest well and is delicious. Did I also mention what a picky eater Mikey is?

The best pricing I’ve found is at PurityFoods.com. I just placed an order for a 25lb bag. Total is $52.25 with shipping or $2.09/lb. And … they are including a sample of their sesame sticks and granola cereal for me to try before I buy. Right on!

So as my bread machine toils below I am sitting pretty on a darn good value. You could be next, click here for more info: http://www.purityfoods.com/

Psst. I am not paid to promote this product, just a happy customer who can’t wait to see the happy look on hubby’s face when he comes through the front door smelling hot, fresh bread for din din.

Letter from a tired woman …

Hey Viveca,

My time seems to never slow down!

I think last time I emailed you I said I was trying more starchy carbs in the morning, but I think those are hurting me more, by making me crave more carbs….so I’m still trying to find a happy medium when it comes to carbs and providing energy.

The past week I have been back to feeling pretty tired during the early mornings and early evening hours …

———–

Dear Feeling Pretty Tired,

PLEASE keep a food and beverage journal for at least the next 3 days. Then send it to me so I can have a peak …

* I am wondering if you are eating more sweets, sweetie? From Halloween onward we tend to slip in a little and a lot of sweets. These raise us up and drop us flat and craving more and feeling tired.

* I am wondering if you are drinking enough water – at least 8 glasses a day starting with 1ST thing in the morning.

* I am wondering what your blood type is? If you are type “O”, the most common blood type, then I recommend that you get off of all wheat and dairy and add more meal into your diet.

Why?

Tired in the morning points to allergies – the most common allergy triggers are wheat and dairy. You can easily substitute Ezekiel bread and ezekiel or buckwheat cereal (for the wheat) and Almond milk, goat cheese and yogurt (for the cow dairy). Try this for a week and see how you feel.

Tired in the early evening points to Toxin Overload. Drinking more water, with a squeeze of lemon, can help clear out your system enough to notice is your are feeling better and need to do more … (and you probably will, but after the holidays.)

Final note (until I hear from you!) Add more protein into your diet. Protien cuts the carb cravings. (Beef, seafood, tofu, beans, eggs, yogurt, turkey & apple sausages (yum!)

Energetically yours! Viveca

Blood Type Diet Update

Blood Type Diet Update :: A month ago my husband and I met with a holistic practitioner. We were desperate to find a different and better way to deal with his chronic migraines.

Long story short she put us on the “Blood Type Diet.” Over these past 3 weeks the improvement in his health is fantastic. Migraines are down – energy is higher.

Reminds me of what a friend used to say to me “Don’t give up before you get your miracle.”

Check back later – I am going to post some recipes that we have been developing. My husband is a gourmet and whether it is the Blood Type Diet or any other diet he demands a “delicious” meal …

Blood Type Diet – Never stop learning – 4 Blood Types, 4 Diets

I have good news and bad news. First the good news.

As your energy returns so do all those hours in the day that were given away to the couch, the brain fog and the “victim” syndrome. And, as you do what you need to do to get your groove back it will become easier to do more for yourself and to help others.

This week I spent hours researching Dr. Peter D’Adamo’s Blood Type Diet. I learned about 4 Blood Types, 4 Diets and the Eat Right Diet to help my husband clean out and heal from a 20 year migraine problem. Today while shopping at yet another health food store I reflected back to my first such shopping spree …

It was 2 years ago. I was the patient. It was overwhelming. Partly because I was so tired. Partly because it was so foreign. Spelt? Millet? dairy free this, gluten that. That first time I shopped till I dropped, literally. I cried on the drive home. The journey seemed endless and tasteless and bleak and …

I have come along way. Didn’t cry today. I felt great researching this and that for my love,
Mr. Type “O” Blood.

If you are now where I was then, don’t despair. The good news is that if you keep doing what you need to do for yourself there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. Take it one day at a time and before you know it …

The bad news. Oh it isn’t really that bad. It is best summed up in one of my favorite quotes.

Change is not without discomfort, even from worse to better.”

It isn’t comfortable having to learn a new diet whether it is the Blood Type Diet or the Low Glycemic Diet or the detox diet or … It isn’t fun putting up with crap from people who are uncomfortable when you change. (Beware of family and friends who will tempt you back to the trough or bar stool to maintain their comfort level.)

My best advice is to hang out with friends and family who want to head in your direction — health. They can follow or they can lead. It is fun taking turns!
