Nothing energizes like Love. Nothing feels better than leaving our own worries and pains behind and putting everything we have, everything we are and every breath we take into loving someone.

Years ago a mentor told me to “focus outward – outside myself” whenever I was feeling badly.

Call a friend and cheer them up – do something, anything to get the focus off of yourself” she would say. Excellent advice and it really works.

I remember the first time I heard the term “News Fast.” I was reading an Andrew Weil book and I did a double take. What? A day without news? A day without boiling over something someone did or did not do. A day without worrying about strangers or taking on a new cause. A day without EXTRA guilt, stress, sadness and strife. What a concept. Am I permitted?

T.V., radio, Internet, e-mail, blackberries, newspapers, telephones … yes it comes at us fast from everywhere but we can just say no – not today.

Ahhhhhhhh. Feeling more relaxed just thinking about it. Imagine how good it will feel when you actually do it. Twenty-four hours of peace. Twenty-four hours of keeping the focus on your precious present, on yourself and YOUR life.

Boost Your Energy with "Portable Reiki"

I just laid me down and gave myself a pick-me-up thanks to this cool little book called “Portable Reiki Easy Self-Treatment for Home, Work and on the Go

I love the way it shows and tells “how to.” The photos are excellent and its titles make it easy to choose what to do. For example I have been on the verge of a full blown migraine all morning and I’ve been feeling stressed over a loved ones health problem.

So … I chose to do the “Settling Down, Calming Down” series which consists of three hand positions to 1) strengthen the kidneys, adrenal glands … 2) reduce stress, enhance clarity of thought and intuition and position 3) harmonized both sides of my brain, helps memory and brings on the joy.
