Breath in, breath out, breath.

Relaxation Tip – Re-Energizing Technique

Breathe in and breath out … slowly. Breath gives your blood extra oxygen which helps your body release re-energizing and relaxing endorphins. And, it is through our breath that we reconnect to spirit …

Today be conscious of your breath. If you catch yourself holding it in or breathing tightly or shallowly, try this easy-does-it relaxation technique.

1. Close your eyes.
2. Place one palm on your heart chakra (on your left breast) and the other on your solar plexus chakra (just underneath your ribs)
3. Focus on relaxing and breathing slowly and easily. Feel the breath moving into and through your palms.

Breathe in spirit. Breathe out worries. Breathe in spirit. Breathe out … Breathe in … Breathe.

The Glycemic Index – Low glycemic Food List – My new friends …

Some of you know about my quest over this past year to help my husband get over his fatigue and chronic migraines.

Let me tell you, I am grateful for my own recovery from fatigue! It takes energy and stamina to keep track of his medications and Drs appointments and dietary upgrades and keep my head and spirits in a healthy place.

Last week we finally got the green light from his primary doc and his neurologist to go through a toe to tip of head examination. I will share with you the tests and results as they come in because they may help you or someone you love.

Did the MRI and MRA and no brain tumor is sight. Excellent. His blood sugar test which screens for diabetes was however a BIG surprise. Happy to tell you Michael is not diabetic but if we don’t make changes NOW that is the direction in which he is headed. (and probably me too!)

This has me researching a new world called the “Glycemic Index” and double checking our diet. Here is the abbreviate “bottom line” for you to use to check out your own diet.

The glycemic index gives us an idea of which foods raise our blood glucose fastest and highest. Research indicates that eating a diet with a relatively low blood glucose impact can protect us from diabetes, and likely from heart disease as well. –Laura Dolson, About.com Guide to Low Carb Diets since 2005

In my husband’s case his downfall has been the additions to my healthy cooking i.e. bread, soy ice cream PLUS a major lack of exercise!

The lack of exercise crept in over the holidays and over these past months as a result of the headaches. It’s been a vicious circle of not feeling well so not exercising then lack of exercise contributing to him feeling well. (His doc said the next time he has a migraine that he should put on legs weights and climb stairs until he breaks a sweat vs. sit it out.)

Anyway – Information is potential. Action is power. Today we are starting to put this information into motion. You can join in.

Today, UP your exercise whether you feel like it or not. Climb extra stairs. Get out there for a walk or head into the gym for a class. Go at your own speed. You don’t have to compete. Just go.(Exercise removes sugar from your bloodstream during and after your workout. Sitting on a couch, doesn’t. It is vital to heading off diabetes.)

Today, EAT UP on low glycemic foods (beans, peas, meats, fish, apples, plums) and cut out or cut down on your evening indulgences and anything “white” (white bread, rice, potatoes) Click here for an excellent list of low glycemic foods, dos and don’ts. And,

Just one way to boost your energy – Puppy Love

Last Wednesday I bought a pedometer to start logging my steps for the SPCA. (I am a volunteer dog walker – you could be too. Click here for typical volunteer opportunities at your local shelter OR to help out at ours.)

Anywho, on Wednesday, January 2ND I walked 9533 steps. Someday I’ll figure out how that translates into miles. Right now I like the sound of steps! BTW = The manual that came with the pedometer recommends that we walk a total of 10,000 steps a day.

Volunteering – doing something you Love for something or someone you Love is sooooooo
energizing. It is proven to release all kinds of feel good hormones. I have gone in for this weekly 2 hour walking spree feeling like c-r-a-p – feeling tired – feeling stressed, even with migraine headaches and come out of it refreshed, re-Energized and loving life. Must be a combination of heart, movement, oxygen and water intake …

This is just ONE way to give yourself an emotional and physical boost. Do you have something else to suggest? Add it on here for the rest of us!

A New Year’s Resolution to re-Energize ALL of you!

This is just in from my friend Jennifer Clare and I had to share it with you! (Psst. If you have something cool to get us started in this new year add it here!)

Forget the resolutions. Forget control and discipline…too much work. Instead try experimenting. Go in search of something to fall in love with…something about yourself,
your career, your spouse.”– Dale Dauten

How refreshing! This time of year the papers and magazines are full of suggestions to detox, purge and diet – essentially beating yourself up for having been indulgent over the holidays.

Rather than buying into that punishing idea, try really falling in love. With you.

Go through your body and thank each and every part of it for being there for you, 24/7. Your body never stops working for you, carrying you around, allowing you to experience exquisite pleasures.

Your body is home.

So instead of being mean to it, decide to be kind and gentle. Feed it nourishing whole foods. Move and stretch it. Breathe lots of oxygen deep into it. And hydrate it! (I read yesterday that our goal with drinking water is to replace all the stale water in the body with clean fresh stuff – every day. Are you living in a spring-fed lake or a polluted, algae-filled pond?)

(And if you’re interested in learning to talk to your body and finding out exactly what IT wants – there are a handful of places left for the course on January 19th. Your Body KNOWS What It Needs!

Read more here.) You are marvellous and perfect. Treat yourself that way! thought matters! and so do you! Jennifer Clare http://www.thoughtmatters.com.au

Twis the week before Christmas and what can you do?

1. Break Your Fast (Breakfast) the right way.

* One American out of four starts the day without eating breakfast

* Studies have shown that adults and children who skip breakfast tend to have higher cholesterol levels and, consequently, are at a greater risk of developing heart disease

* A 12 yr-old who skips breakfast has the reaction time and mental agility of a 70 year old in the classroom. (Wonder how that ages adults in the office, in the car, in relationships …)

First Things First.
Upon rising make yourself a glass of hot water with (click here for more more including the Fatigue Be Gone Fatigue Busting Breakfast!)
