What will you do today? (instead of worry)

“Do you remember the things you were worrying about a year ago? How did they work out? Didn’t you waste a lot of fruitless energy on account of most of them? Didn’t most of them turn out all right after all?” – Dale Carnegie

Worry is exhausting. It is that rocking chair that goes back & forth and back & forth and straight to our adrenal glands. Worry is exhausting and sickening, literally.

Today do something to eliminate a worry and bring on a smiley.

Yes, get rid of nagging doubt, undone or resentment. Forgive someone. Help out your shelter and adopt a dog or cat. Call that friend you’ve been avoiding and treat her to a cup of coffee and a spoonful of compassion, optimism and good-humor. Apologize to your mother, start writing a love-note to your father to give to him on Father’s Day, mail the gift to your niece even though her birthday was in April! Admit you messed up and ask how you can make it up.

What will you do today to make you feel good about yourself? Tell me. Then tell me how good you feel!

It’s Monday and I am feeling … tired!

I had a jam-packed weekend. Some days I am just tuckered out from being a busy bee and that’s life!

Saturday I planned to:

1. Work on Taxes.
2. Work on my DogCaptions Fundraiser Program.
3. Clean the house (with M. by my side.)
4. Grocery Shopping
5. Yoga Class
6. Re caulk the bathroom shower.

(All of this in addition to normal daily activities.)

What I did was:

1. Yoga Class
2. Grocery shopping where we discovered our grocery store was no longer stocking a favorite red wine from a local winery. To support our community we HAD to go …
3. Wine tasting! Which led into …
4. Visiting with my step-daughter and then …
5. Home in time for din din and time for bed!

Somedays I make such serious plans and God laughs and sends me off to play instead!

So, today my fatigue is fun-related! Then, some of it stems from the realization that I still have many tedious hours ahead to complete my work and taxes by St. Patty’s day … Bleh. Sigh.

How are you doing today?!

The Power of Prayer – Unity Village Prayer

This morning I called on the power of prayer. If you are need of prayer (and who isn’t) I recommend you call the Unity Village prayer ministry. The phone number is 816-969-2000. (If your need is urgent and you have no means to pay for the call, dial 800-669-7729.)

When you call you will be connected with a prayer minister who will pray for and with you. You will continue to receive prayers for the following 30 days and may also receive a prayer in the mail or by Email. (I chose mail because I want to hold onto something tangible.)

The Unity School of Christianity, the world headquarters of the Unity movement, was founded in 1889 by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore after Mrs. Fillmore’s remarkable healing using prayer and affirmations.

I can’t tell you how good I feel now and what an awesome way that is to start the week … Here is a prayer I would like to share with you today.
May you be filled with loving kindness.
May you be well.
May you be peaceful and at ease.
May you be happy.

Balance – How are your rooms?

There is an Indian belief that everyone is in a house of four rooms: A physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not complete.”
— Rumer Godden, English novelist

It’s not a new idea that we need balance to be complete. But how many people actually achieve it?

Some people live so much in their bodies – they’re running around, eating right and getting plenty of exercise. Nothing wrong with that! Unless they’re exercising compulsively and maybe not nourishing the rest of their needs.

Or how about the people who live in their heads? They’re always thinking, doodling, plotting and planning. (I’m one of those people.) And it can be so tempting to do just one more thing, write one more paragraph, think something else, and forgo exercise or spiritual practice.

Other people are intensely involved in their emotional life, measuring how they feel internally about everything that comes up. That can be a great way of checking in with their Unconscious Mind, as that’s where the emotions live, but some people hop from one emotional state to another without any balance or peace of mind.

And then there are spiritual people who would prefer to meditate or pray to the exclusion of everything else.

I really like that idea of just airing the room – making sure that you’re doing at least one small thing in each of those areas. Because it’s true – when you take care of your body, stimulate your mind, honour your emotions and feed your spiritual side, life just flows. It’s easy. Effortless. Fun. Happy.

So here are a handful of suggestions for each of those areas, click here for the rest of this story!
