Tips for tired moms

Tip #2. Play soothing music to lull you to sleep. It works for the babes, why not for you too! There are many clock/radio/CD players that have a sleep timer and will turn off after 15 minutes. Many CDs are made with tones meant to help induce sleep. Music and nature sounds will replace the thoughts in a busy mind and help the cares of the day fade away. — Barbra Alberts, Owner, www.SelfIndulgence.biz

Tips for Moms who suffer from Fatigue AND Insomnia

Tip #1. Buddy up and get the support you need. Becoming a mother comes more naturally to some women than to others. If you lie awake at night worrying about whether you’re up to the job, you might find it beneficial to join a parenting or play group. It’s reassuring and empowering to learn from other mom’s who are going through exactly the same things you are.

Caveat: Avoid the know-it-all women who manage to infiltrate every playgroup. They love to smear others’ parenting skills and they’re famous for asking babies stupid questions like, “When are you ever going to get a tooth?” –Terry Hernon MacDonald, Founder, http://www.HappyGirlMusing.com

Favorite Health Quotes
Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right.
-Henry Ford

I like to apply this quote to a lot of things, including health. Be sure to tuck it away and pull it out if you ever get bad news from a doctor. I know more people who were supposed to be dead who are alive and THRIVING. What I have noticed most is that their thinking made all the difference … we can feel GREAT … if we think we can.

LOL – at yourself! Can you?

Tired women tend to take themselves and life too seriously. Someone said to me recently, “Don’t sweat the small stuff and, it’s all small stuff.”

That didn’t just hit home – it hit a home run with me and my attitude.

So … guess that is why I am sharing what could be considered one of the most embarrassing photos of my life. See if you can pick me out of this enthusiastic, engaged group.

I am the women on the end who, according to my nieces, looks so peaceful. Trust me – I wasn’t peaceful. I was praying. Just get me off of this, just get me through this and I will …

Every time I look at this photo I laugh out loud! It is a great reminder that life is a roller coaster but I can find a way to enjoy or, at least, flow with the moment. And, I am never alone!

What about you? Any photos, any stories you’d like to share? Post away …

The Fat Flush Diet Vegetable, Fruit & Protein Bath

The Fat Flush Foods is an excellent book by Ann Louise Gittleman. I came across it while researching the best way to cleanse my body right …

1 “bottom line” tip is to wash off toxic chemicals and preservatives. This also helps our fruits, vegetables and meats stay fresh longer. Win win win.

Here’s how – 3 Step Process:

* Step 1 – Add 1/2 teaspoon of regular ‘ol Clorox per 1 gallon of purified water. (I’m using tap until I get my filtered water set up.)

* Step 2– Soak away according to this schedule:
Leafy vegetables 15 minutes
Root, thick-skinned, or fibrous vegetables 30 minutes
Fruits 30 minutes
Poultry, fish, *meat and eggs 20 minutes

*don’t place ground meat in the bath. Frozen meat can be thawed in a Clorox bath. Allow for 20 minutes for up to 5 lbs of meat.

* Step 3 – Soak again for 10 minutes in clear water and rinse.

This is an easy routine to get into … I do it on Sunday nights then make up my veggie bags for the week. Doing more of less keeps it simple.

Till tomorrow … eat well, feel well and find something that makes you giggle and guffaw. Why?
